Racing the MS-Kart chassis for the Bouvin Power team for the very first time Mathias was right on the pace when testing started on Wednesday 25/7 at the beautiful and challenging Asum Ring, near Kristianstad, Sweden.
After setting the third Qualifiying time on Friday afternoon, behind championship contenders Xen De Ruwe (Formula K Europe) and Miika Laiho (MPT Racing – Tonykart), Mathias went on to win Qualification Heats 1 and 3 on Saturday whilst finishing P2 in the second Heat. In all three heats he set the fastest lap time.

Starting from Pole position in the Pre-Final on Sunday morning, Mathias, as well as De Ruwe and Laiho had elected to save their set of new tires for the Final.
Mathias lead most of the Pre Final but Patrick Pearce (Tonykart) who started on new tires moved into P1 with a few laps to go, and the Tatum Racing driver won the Pre-Final.
The start of the Final was pretty hectic with light rain starting to fall whilst drivers were entering into Parc Ferme. Most drivers quickly changed to wet set-ups, whilst a few drivers gambled on starting on slicks hoping the rain would stop. But after the installation and formation laps the rain intensified.
Starting on the outside of the front row in P2, Mathias got passed pole man Patrick Pearce quickly and was able to immediately open the gap and to pull away from the rest of the field. He went on to win the Final with a 9 seconds advantage over Lucas Orrock (Paul Carr – Kosmic) with Haralds Garkaklis (DFK – Gillard) snatching third place from Patrick Pearce in the final corner.
Mathias was overjoyed with his win and after the race he thanked his mechanics, team boss Birger Bouvin and the MS Kart factory crew for their fantastic support.
With one race to go in the Rotax Max Euro Challenge, in Salbris (France) on 16-Sep Mathias has now extended his championship lead in the DD2-class.
