P4 for Mathias on race return with Flandria Competition Kart

After 4 months away from the karting tracks Mathias Detige joined Flandria Competition Kart to participate in the final round of the 2014 BNL Karting Series. Having missed the previous round in Ostricourt, the 2013 BNL DD2 Champion was out of contention for the 2014 championship. Nevertheless Mathias and Flandria Team boss Kristof  Dehert were targeting a strong performance at the Genk track. During the Friday free practice sessions Mathias immediately felt at ease in the Flandria Kart.

Mathias takes the 2013 crown after a sensational weekend at Genk


Going into the third and final Round of the 2013 BNL Karting Series, five DD2 drivers were still in contention for the 2013 BNL title. Mathias Detige was leading the points table, but fellow Belgian Xen De Ruwe was the clear favourite, as he had won 4 of the previous 8 races. Strawberry Racing’s Andreas Backman and Dan Holland Racing’s Barrie Pullinger were also very much in the title hunt. Latvian Haralds Garkaklis still had an outside chance also but he needed 4 wins in the last event and a run of bad luck for his rivals.

Mathias P2 en Mathieu P6 in eindstand. Backman winnaar.

De tweede manche van de BNL Karting Series in het Franse Ostricourt heeft de titelstrijd in de Rotax DD2-klasse weer helemaal open gegooid. Xen De Ruwe had in zijn Formula K enkele weken geleden de 4 eerste races in Genk gewonnen en meteen een ernstige optie op de titel genomen. Maar in Ostricourt keerde het tij want de Formula K was vooral op een natte baan in mindere vorm.

MS Karts van Mathieu en Mathias P7 en P2 tijdens seizoensopener

Heelwat deelnemers waren te gast op het circuit van de Horensbergdam te Genk voor de openingsraces van de 2013 BNL Karting Series. Net als de voorgaande jaren gaat dit kampioenschap over 3 race-weekends met telkens 2 races op zaterdag en ook 2 races op zondag voor de Micro Max, Mini Max, Junior Max, Senior Max en DD2 klassen.

Mathias wint 2 heats en is verzekerd van deelname aan Rotax Grand Finals
Mathieu vijfde in rookie season

TeamDF rijders Mathias Detige en Mathieu Collin hebben hun Belgisch DD2 seizoen succesvol afgesloten.
Mathieu werd opnieuw vierde in het weekendklassement aan de Horensbergdam te Genk. Tijdens de eerste Heat op zaterdag finishte Mathieu in zijn Tonykart op een prachtige tweede plaats, achter de Nederlander Leon De Visser. Op zondag klokte hij de derde chrono. De 4 Heats waren fel bevochten races want zijn rechtstreekse concurrenten Garkaklis, De Visser en Pearce waren ook op puntenjacht, in de hoop een Ticket voor de Rotax Grand Finals in de wacht te slepen. Uiteindelijk kwam Mathieu in het eindklassement van het seizoen enkele puntjes tekort en finishte hij op de vijfde plaats. Toch een mooie prestatie voor zijn eerste seizoen in de niet te onderschatten DD2-klasse.
